Hello Again,
If you’ve been reading the blog or following on Facebook, you know that I am spending a month on a houseboat on the San Francisco Bay. While here, I’ve edited about three-fourths of the second book in the Texas Lady Lawyer Series, and found time to check out many of the local attractions.
This is a photo-journal of some of the sites Bill and I visited during our days in California.
The Golden Gate Bridge is the gateway to San Francisco and all its international treasures!
Fisherman’s Wharf is teeming with colorful characters, exotic smells and beautiful vistas.
San Francisco is known for it’s sourdough bread which was brought here by French bakers during the California Gold rush. The nickname “Sourdough Sam” is the mascot of the San Francisco 49ers. We ate lots of sourdough!
From the Wharf we could see Alcatraz, as well as several other bridges and neighborhoods.
Of course, we rode a cable car.
We walked down the most crooked street in the world – Lombard Street in Russian Hill.
We ate dim sum in Chinatown.
We viewed Coit Tower and the Transamerica Pyramid – which are the two most distinctive buildings in the San Francisco skyline.
We ate chocolate at Ghirardelli Square (lots of chocolate).
And, after long days of writing and sightseeing, enjoyed the daily sunset from the hot tub on the houseboat deck over the marina and bay.
There wasn’t enough space here for all we’ve seen, but three special quick notes:
Muir Woods, home of the giant redwoods, was peaceful and sacred.
Berkeley Botanical Gardens was a surprise we happened upon and enjoyed.
The Japanese Tea Garden at Golden Gate Park was beautiful and zen.
If you’ve ever been to San Francisco, you know this is just a small glimpse of all that’s here. Thanks for taking this little photo trip with me.
Happy Reading,
Manning
