I hope you are well and enjoying really great reads as we head into fall. I have some exciting personal news to share with you – we’ve just bought a house! Yes, Darling Bill and I are downsizing to a patio home nearby in Lockhart, the Barbecue Capital of Texas. It’s close enough to enjoy Austin, and see our son, Aaron, when we choose – but far enough to give us some breathing room. And, best of all, it’s on the way to the beach!
One of the highlights is my new office space, where we’re installing beautiful French doors that let in tons of natural light. Here is a pic of the construction process that includes the doors, new floors, tile, and updated fixtures. Yes, we cut a big hole in the wall of a new house. We never thought we would buy a brand new home and do construction before moving in, but there you have it.
In the midst of the chaos of remodeling and preparing for the move, I’ve been working on a new Merit Bridges Short Story, working title: Count Down. It features our favorite investigator, Ag Malone, who finds himself caught up in a tense, time-sensitive case. Remember Ag’s first short story, Texas Toast? With all the craziness going on, a short story is my way to keep writing without overtaxing the organizing part of my brain.
